DUAL-FUEL LPG systems for diesel engines
The uniqueness of DUAL FUELline products lies in the precise reduction of the diesel dose and replacing it with cheaper gas fuel while maintaining the required engine operating parameters.
Engine power, temperature and exhaust emissions do not exceed the ranges set for the base fuel supply – diesel. Only such a system ensures long engine life and low fuel costs.
The basic ON power supply system (diesel) operates on the engine without any changes to its structure. During operation, the driver can use a switch to select ON only (diesel) or Dual Fuel operation (diesel + gas).
In DUAL FUEL system, the engine is fed with LPG additionally to the regular feeding with diesel fuel. The application of ELPIAZ DUAL FUEL system allows for a reduction of diesel fuel consumption between 20 and 30 percent, when the engine is simultaneously fed with much cheaper LPG.
Adaptation to Dual Fuel requires the installation of gas installation elements in the engine compartment and additional gas fuel tanks.
Any diesel engine can run on Dual Fuel power, both in vehicles and stationary applications.
How it works?
The system operates by administering an appropriate dose of LPG to the intake air while limiting the amount of diesel oil. Thanks to this, we achieve much more efficient oil burning, a decrease in the amount of harmful substances and, above all, savings. The advantage of this type of gas installations is that there is no need to modify the drive unit, which makes the system universal and can be used in all types of engines. Such a system is not very invasive and is limited only to the installation of a reducer (the same as in 4th generation installations for petrol engines), gas injector(s), filter, MAP sensor and control unit.
For proper operation of the system, appropriate system configuration and calibration are necessary. The calibration method developed by our company guarantees us to achieve maximum use of the system, and therefore measurable savings.
LPG Large Capacity tanks
For LPG Dual-Fuel installations, ELPIGAZ has developed special LPG tanks (LC – Large Capacity) for installation on the frame of trucks with dimensions and capacity similar to diesel tanks.
The size and type of the tank is selected taking into account the proportion of LPG combustion in relation to diesel fuel, so that the operation of the vehicle using the ELPIGAZ Dual-Fuel system allows for simultaneous refueling of both fuels, or so that LPG can be refueled less frequently than diesel fuel.
The tank is also selected in terms of the space that can be allocated for its location – it is usually mounted to the vehicle frame, behind the driver’s cabin or in place of the spare wheel.
